Vol. 17, No. 7 | Serving IEEE Members of South Central Wisconsin | August 2014 |
Our first summer "off season" has featured two eLearning Seminars in June and July where engineers could receive PDH/CEU credits while brushing up on new technology. The first event on "Cyber Security of Industrial Controls Systems" had 12 attendees and the second on "Smart Grid" had 19. The results were successful enough that the IEEE-Madison Executive Committee decided to continue the eLearning Tutorials for two more months, and hopefully, as a permanent monthly event. For August and September, we will be holding the eLearning Seminars at ACS, Inc. in Middleton on the SECOND Thursday of the month. Many thanks to ACS for hosting the seminars at their Middleton Facility. If you are interested in having other specific talks in the eLearning series, please contact Tom Kaminski via email at tjkaminski (at) ieee.org. Available eLearning Courses are provided at this IEEE eLearning site.
The IEEE-Madison Section petitioned for, and received a charter for a Chapter of the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society in 2007. In order to stay on the IEEE role, this Chapter must have at least two meetings a year. Based on our past few years, we have held Section meetings that could be listed as joint meetings of both the BME18 Chapter and Madison Section. If you are active in the BME field, please consider applying for the Chair of the MBE18 Chapter. Your input in selecting speakers would be valuable to your BME colleagues.
