  Chris Meyer is a local expert on 3D printing and all things related to Hacker Spaces.  He will give a brief presentation on the Sector67 3D printing technology and demonstrate how it is done.   If you are not familiar with Sector67, check out their web site here.   You will be amazed at the things that are happening at Sector67.

  This is a seminar provided in recorded format by the IEEE eLearning system and is available for  PDH/CEU credits.  IEEE members may register their credits for free.  Non-Members will have a $20 registration fee.  Be sure to include your IEEE Membership number when register to log the credits.  This seminar is aimed at Continuing Education for the Professional Engineer and is designed to keep you informed of current technical issues.  Many thanks to ACS, Inc. for hosting the seminar. 
  
  Course Content:  This course will begin with an introduction to industrial control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLC, RTU, IED, field devices, meters, etc) and will explain what makes control systems different than business IT.  Potential mitigation approaches including policies and technologies will be discussed. Example control system cyber events and their ramifications will be presented.  Finally, current industry and government activities to secure ICS will be discussed.

• eLearning Talks -- A Beginning with "Cyber Security of ICS"

  Though we normally do not post Newsletter or host IEEE-Madison events for the months of June, July and August, this Newsletter and our initial eLearning course is an attempt to broaden our Professional Engineering Continuing Education outreach for members.  At a recent Region 4 Educational Activities Meeting in DeKalb, IL it was pointed out that there are a number of eLearning lectures available for Sections to access.  It was suggested that the eLearning material be bundled together with a panel for technical discussion of the topic.  The June 19th seminar is the first of what we hope will be a continuing series of lectures, available at no cost to IEEE members.  If you anc't attend, you may sign up (and pay for) for these lectures for individual use on the IEEE eLearning website here.  Our seminar is free with an optional lunch included for $5.  Please SIGN UP for the talk by clicking on the link above.  Be sure to include you IEEE Member Number so you can get credit for attending the course.  The meeting is being hosted by ACS at their University Avenue HQ (link here) convenient to the University and near West side of Madison thanks to Executive Committee Secretary Brandon Zemlo.  If you are interested in having other specific talks in the eLearning series, please contact Tom Kaminski at tjkaminski-at-ieee.org.
  

• Sector67 Talk on 3D Printing

  This month's Entrepreneur and Consultant's Network (ECN) meeting will feature invited speaker and primary force behind Sector67, Chris Meyer.  Chris has been involved in a number of activities encouraging new businesses.  Sector67 is an incubator used by a number of start-ups, including C-Motive Technology.  C-Motive Technology presented an overview of their capacitive motor/generator technology at the April IEEE-Madison Section Meeting.  One local company started at Sector67 is Deep Freeze Fishing whose BlueTipz product that alerts ice fishers that their line has been hit.  Their development blog is available here.  The format of the ECN meeting is informal with a limited time to introduce yourself and give a short "elevator speech" on what your interests or technical areas are.  Please click on the link above to register your intent to attend this meeting.
